Home appliance shoppers in North Edmonton come to us. Here is the reason why. 

The Canadian Appliance Source showroom in 3803 Calgary Trail NW Edmonton, Alberta, is centrally located. 

Our commercial customers (builders, contractors, interior designers) use their time in our part of the city to also hit up PF Custom Countertops, Tile Shoppe, Floor Experts, Alpine Heating and Lenmak Exterior Innovations for custom metal cladding, trim, coil and flashing. It’s like a jackpot for pros around here. 

Our consumer customers (home owners, renters, Air B&B hosts), while maybe not as excited by our industry neighbours, are over the moon at our proximity to West Edmonton Mall and its 800+ stores. This goes double for customers with kids, but things get easier with the little ones if you promise a visit to Galaxyland, the world’s largest indoor amusement park.

Selection

Our inventory rivals any other store, both in brand variety (Samsung, LG, Maytag, Whirlpool, KitchenAid, Bosch, Café, KitchenAid, Frigidaire, Electrolux, JennAir, Monogram and more) and brand depth. We stock a range of price points and styles within each brand portfolio and we do this intentionally. Lots of other home appliance retailers don’t do that. They say they offer the brands, but they only offer the most expensive trims those brands put out. It’s not exactly inclusive or helpful to operate that way so we don’t. We prefer to be accessible to everyone who comes in our store.

Staff

Speaking of being accessible, that’s the kind of environment we train our staff to create in our showrooms all over Alberta and Canada. This starts with the knowledge we insist they attain and the manner in which they explain: simply and easily so you understand the benefits and features of any fridge, oven, dishwasher, stove range, microwave oven, washer and/or dryer that catches your eye.

We also train our staff to get to know you and what matters to you most in life and in home appliances. For example, if you’re really into entertaining at home, you might want a fridge with room for big salad bowls, large marinating plates and plenty of wine and beer. If you’re a Type-A personality, you might want a dishwasher with heightened polishing power so you never see a streak in any glass you pull out of your cupboard. And if you’re an order-out-four-days-a-week kind of person, the oven/stove combo you need might not need to be the most performance driven, but you’ll probably want it to look sharp if it’s going to be more about form than function. Our people will ask you the right questions about you, your lifestyle, your aspirations and the look and feel of your place. 

From there, we’ll be in the position to recommend home appliances smartly. You can guarantee that the recommendations we make will be rooted in your feedback and our product knowledge. 

You can doubly guarantee that you’ll never feel like we’re pushing a brand or trim on you. We don’t do that, partly because it’s not the right or responsible thing to do, and partly because different brands are good for different reasons and different people. We’ll be honest about what we think, but we’ll respect and support whatever home appliance decision you make.

Passion

We believe that home appliances are more than machines that do things. In the right home, the right home appliance can be a game-changer. Seeing a customer’s change for the better because of a home appliance upgrade we recommended is very motivating; every time it happens fuels our team motivation to learn more, meet more people and build more comprehensive home appliance plans for customers.

Consider how much room healthy food takes up in a fridge, compared to microwave dinners and chicken pot pies. A bigger fridge with more space for fruits and vegetables could inspire its owner to add more healthy food their diet. If they have a family, that dietary change will trickle down through the household and everyone will be healthier because of it. They may eat more fresh foods and rely less on their microwave.

Speaking of microwaves, we think about the mid-millennial who works 16 hours a day and doesn’t have time to think about food in any way other than nourishment to keep working. A new microwave with multiple settings opened him up to batch cooking, which he built into his Sunday routine and supported with a new oven and range to try more elaborate cook-to-freeze recipes and a new dishwasher with room for all the new cookware he’s started using.

And then there’s the washer/dryer, and for that we always think about a family of four expecting their fifth member. Mom and Dad know what the laundry commitment looks like with a newborn, but at the same time, they’re exhausted after having already done this twice. To them, while quality is important, it pales in comparison to the value they place on speed and capacity.

In addition to the questions we’ll ask new visitors, we make a promise to not push a particular “best brand,” because that doesn’t mean anything anymore. What matters is that you get what you’re looking for from a home appliance at a price you can digest.

In business we call that “value,” but sometimes, price has nothing to do with astonishing value: sometimes it’s about the feeling of safety in a place. You’ll get that here in the form of not being pushed into a brand because it’s the “best brand.” That term means nothing; it should be “what’s best for you.” When you start looking at home appliances through this lens, you realize two things very quickly: that home appliance brands all have their strengths and weaknesses, and that some people will only focus on the positive traits and others will focus on the negative. From us, you’ll get an unbiased opinion you can take or leave. But it’s rooted in real knowledge.

The area

Being minutes from West Edmonton Mall means we get a lot of families coming through this location. But it’s nothing compared to how many contractors, builders and designers we get walking through. We obviously attribute some of this to the number of industry neighbours we have, but a big part of it is the food we have available in the area. Pound for pound (and you’ll find a lot in Polish food), it’s hard to beat Bistro Warsaw for a night with your partner discussing your home appliance plan.
