What you can expect at our Calgary appliance store

Introducing South Calgary’s first Canadian Appliance Source showroom

Until now, when home appliance shoppers in South Calgary wanted to buy a quality fridge, dishwasher, oven, range, microwave oven, washer or dryer, they had to either drive up to our 23 Ave. NE location or fight the crowds at a big box store.

This was quite unfortunate for the people of South Calgary. Homeowners and home renters in the market for home appliances were finding the whole process laborious and the opposite of fun. Meanwhile home builders and home renovators were finding zero value in the options available because they couldn’t find a reliable vendor with brands worthy of being in more profitable upgrade packages.

That’s all changing as of June 2020.

Naturally, when the decision was made to bring a Canadian Appliance Source showroom to South Calgary, the chatter of where to put the new store started. 

Many locations were weighed and debated, but we ultimately decided on Macleod Plaza (at 9250 Macleod Trail SE) because of how easy it is to get to from anywhere in South Calgary, its proximity to other destinations that would benefit residential customers (Southcentre Mall, Avenida Place and Winners) and commercial customers (Lowe’s, Canadian Tire), and the great lunch spots in the area (Chianti Cafe, Schanks and Limericks).

But even with all those advantages, you would visit the Canadian Appliance Source showroom in South Calgary for the same reasons you would visit any Canadian Appliance Source location across Alberta, and really across all of Canada. 

So. Much. Choice.

Brands? Yes. We have all the labels you’d want staring back at you every day: Samsung, LG, Maytag, Whirlpool, KitchenAid, Bosch, Café, KitchenAid, Frigidaire, Electrolux, JennAir, Monogram, Thermador and more. That would be impressive enough (because you won’t find a brand list to match it anywhere), but where Canadian Appliance Source really stands out is in the selection within each brand.

First, you’ll notice the range of price points available under any brand for any home appliance in our showroom. Providing a spectrum of price points for quality home appliance was a conscious choice we made when we started back in 2008. Our mission was a world where people didn’t have to break the bank for the brands that best represent them.

Second, you’ll notice our belief that more styles to choose from is better for everybody. Almost every conceivable style of kitchen or laundry room was considered and reconsidered over and over again. We wanted to make sure that anybody who walked through our showroom door, regardless of their personal sensibility, would be able to find a home appliance that suited them and their tastes, lifestyle and budgets. We succeeded across the board.

The style range is particularly important in South Calgary due to its mix of trendy technocrat and blue collar. The owner of an Inglewood condo will have just as much luck finding the fridge, dishwasher, oven, range, microwave oven, washer or dryer they want as the duplex developer in Kingsland or the factory manager in Acadia.

The kind of service that keeps you coming back

As we recruited for our South Calgary showroom sales team, we used the same methodology that has worked for our other showrooms across Canada: we wanted people who understood how people see life improvement and who appreciated the ability of a home appliance to contribute to that improvement.

Take a fridge as an example. The average person evaluates a fridge by what it can do. We choose to compare fridges by what they can do for the person who owns it — in other words, what the features mean from a benefit standpoint.

A fridge with extra large fruit and vegetable crispers means more room for healthy food. But for you, that means a better relationship with food, more opportunity to try new flavours in your staple recipes and generally more energy because what you put in your body is what you’ll get out of it.

The same principles can apply to other home appliances. An oven/stove range combo can improve your skills as a home chef with more opportunities to practise and perfect specialized techniques. And depending on the size of the oven, it could open up hosting possibilities you never thought you could consider in the past. If you had the room in your oven to cook for ten, maybe you’ll start batch cooking and freezing whole meals in your new fridge’s extra-large freezer? Think about how much you spend on lunch every day, and what else you could be doing with that extra money in your pocket.  

Of course, the batch freezing plan doesn’t work without a microwave, and a good one will have different settings for defrosting veggies, meats and breads so everything tastes as intended. And if you’re going to using all that Tupperware, and be left with all that crusted-on cheese, you’ll want a dishwasher with an extra strong setting because whatever comes out of there is going straight back to work. 

When you talk to members of our sales teams, these are the kinds of things they’ll get you to think about. They’ll have answers to any questions you have; but what separates Canadian Appliance Source from almost every other home appliance retailer in South Calgary is how your questions are answered.

They’ll talk to you like you don’t know the first thing about home appliances — because you probably don’t — and why would you?

They’ll explain the features of our home appliances in a way that makes sense to you and for you. You’ll understand how this product will improve your life specifically, and why that product might not give you the results you need personally. They’ll be patient, insightful and genuine. And when it comes to talk price, they’ll be honest because that’s how we trained them to be.

That doesn’t happen at Canadian Appliance Source because we build a higher level of customer service into our training program. We stress getting to know every feature/benefit of every product we sell from a “what’s in it for me” perspective, and you’ll feel it when you talk to our sales reps right from the get-go. And when they talk to you, it’ll be in plain language that makes sense to you.

Finding someone who wants to drop a sizeable amount of money on a home appliance is a tall order in most places. Not here, though; our sales reps will help you cognitively see how your new home appliance is going to improve your life.

From there, we’ll get into the space your new home appliance is going to live in. We’ll talk about size, style and future plans for the space — all of which will help us narrow our reco list even further.

And, naturally, we’ll talk about price and what will work for you.

At this point, most customers will ask us what we think the “best brand” is, and we shut that discussion down as quick as we can because it’s a pointless exercise.

In reality, the best brand is the one that’s best for the customer. It could be a common Canadian label or something from an exotic international manufacturer. Both are available at the South Calgary Canadian Appliance Source showroom and here on our website.
