If it’s a home appliance in Winnipeg, Manitoba, it probably came from us.

Winnipeggers who need a refrigerator, fridge, freezer, oven, stove/range, dishwasher, microwave oven, cooktop, washer, washing machine or dryer almost always check the Canadian Appliance Source showroom first.

We’re in Kenaston Common, at 1585 Kenaston Blvd on the southwest side of Linden Woods. And we’re nine minutes south of Portage Avenue, so we’re pretty easy to get to from almost anywhere in Winnipeg.

We’re also surrounded by other home-and-reno-focused stores like Lowe’s, Rona, Home Depot, HomeSense, Mark’s and Warehouse One. Commercial and consumer customers have both told us that this is one of the best bonuses for us, because life is busy and having everything in one place is helpful. You’ll even find a truck rental place across Lindenwood Drive. Many customers show up with a vehicle from there if they’re planning to get a few home appliances for their homes or delivering a bunch of home appliances to a job site. It’s convenient to have them close.

Those are some of the logistical reasons to visit our Winnipeg showroom. Here are some more.

  1. Selection

While the list of names is impressive and exhaustive — it features Samsung, LG, Maytag, Whirlpool, KitchenAid, Bosch, Café, Frigidaire, Electrolux, JennAir, Monogram and more — the label breadth only tells half the story.

We take multiple products from each brand lineup so multiple price points are represented. It’s important to us that everyone who walks into our showroom feels like they belong. Home appliances aren’t cheap. They shouldn’t be cheap because if they are, you’ll just have to replace them sooner than you want. And yes, some are expensive, but they don’t have to be.

As we pay attention to price, we pay equal attention to appearances. We stock our showroom with the right pieces so every possible home vibe is easy to match with a home appliance at Canadian Appliance Source. We know how diverse people’s room design sensibilities are, and so we curate a range of styles to go with different looks. We can do country house as easily as we can do downtown condo. And we understand the differences between the two in terms of needs and wants.

  1. Service

When you visit a big box store to shop for home appliances (as many people do), you’ll notice a few oddities about the experience.

Firstly and most importantly, the staff aren’t knowledgeable about the products — at least, not knowledgeable enough to instil 100% confidence in a home appliance. And when you’re asking for the kind of money they ask for (because home appliances are expensive), you’d expect them to have more to offer.

You’d also expect them to be clearer when they explain the features and benefits of their products. Instead, they tend to throw a whole lot of jargon your way, so much so that you find yourself looking stuff up on your phone while they go tend to another customer.

These things don’t happen at Canadian Appliance Source, which is a testament to our industry-leading approach to customer service.

This starts with a militant-like insistence that our people know absolutely everything there is to know about every brand, trim and product we carry. They dig deep into every feature to understand its purpose, how it works and the kind of person who’d most appreciate it.

Of course, you can’t do that until you understand what people want from their home appliances, and how their lives could change with the right home appliance.

Take a fridge, for example. It keeps food cold and fresh. But it can also fundamentally change the way you eat, which could have a very positive effect on the way you feel.

Let’s say you had more space in your fridge for fruits and vegetables. Yes, you could buy more of what you have. You could also experiment with new foods in addition to your staple produce. That could lead to new meals, new styles of cooking and a new approach to eating for you and your family.

An oven and range could have a similar effect. Imagine something as simple as a warming element. If you had one, you could make fondu for a house party that would stay deliciously gooey and at just the right temperature all evening. If the oven had a third rack, you could do your turkey, veggies and potatoes at the same time. If it had a convection bake feature, your pot roasts would come out crispier and more caramelized. And if your fridge’s freezer is big enough, perhaps you’ll make your new recipes in batches and freeze Tupperware containers? They certainly come in handy when you don’t feel like cooking or don’t have time, but only if you have a solid microwave.

Of course, you probably wouldn’t want to do any of this if you didn’t have a dishwasher with the power to work out the caked-on bits of sauce on your cookware and not have to wash the dinner dishes by hand before loading them in. That’s the worst.

As for washing machines and dryers, the right ones will give you the confidence to expand your wardrobe. Imagine if your washing machine had a quality delicate cycle that could handle high-quality delicates. Think you’d add a few new underthings to your drawer?

And what if your dryer was energy-efficient and had a big eco-friendly symbol on it? What a great example to set for your kids. Every time they’re in the laundry room, you could remind them that we all have the opportunity to make a positive difference.

This kind of lateral thinking about home appliances is part of the customer service experience. We think this way because we care; about appliances, about our customers and about a perfect match between the two.

  1. Approach

If you’re a new customer, we’ll start by talking about you and your sensibilities. What do you value in a home appliance? Is it performance? Would you be willing to pay extra for more power? Maybe it’s a certain style that you’d gladly sacrifice top quality to have? What about brand? Does the name on the outside trump the quality inside? It’s okay if it does, but we need to know so we can make recommendations that make sense for you.

We’ll also talk about the space you’re working within, and specifically the look, feel and size of it. The wrong home appliance will stand out like a sore thumb in a room not designed for it. Or worse, an undesigned room will be impossible to build if you have to work around an appliance that fits neither your vision nor your space.

Then, when we feel confident that we have a handle on you and the kitchen or laundry room you’re looking to outfit with your new home appliance, we’ll start making recommendations. We’ll defend our choices simply and easily so you understand where we’re coming from, and why and how you can expect to benefit from it.

If you’re a returning customer, we’ll already have a lot of this information. But if things in your life have changed, do let us know and we’ll update our files.

Perhaps the most valuable aspect of our approach is the one we take to the concept of “best brand.”

You hear that term bandied about our industry, and every home appliance retailer will have a different way of justifying the moniker — it’s usually based on the professional publications they subscribe to and which reviewers they trust.

We disregard it entirely because it doesn’t mean anything. In the context of a home appliance, best is whatever works best for you — and what works for you is unique to you. This philosophy prevents us from unnecessarily pushing the home appliance du jour on a customer and instead focusing on what’s going to make them happy short and long term.

  1. Location

We already spoke about our neighbours in the home and reno industries and our easy-to-get-to showroom from just about anywhere in Winnipeg. But another thing we have going for us is our proximity to good eats if you wind up here over meal time (brunch, lunch or dinner). Stop in for lunch or dinner at Moxie’s or Boston Pizza after you shop. Or try the Canadian Brewhouse — the weekend brunch menu is worth the trip alone! We’re also just a stone’s throw from some of the city’s best hidden green spaces, like Muys Park and Van Walleghem Park — all great places to clear your head, weigh your options and decide what you want to do about your next home appliance.

That’s why most home appliances in Winnipeg Manitoba, Canada come from us

When you’re ready to start looking, come by the showroom in Kenaston Common at 1585 Kenaston Blvd. But do have a quick look around this website to get some ideas first so we can help you expand on your thoughts and get it right.
