The Viking Range History

 

Viking Range was founded in the 1980’s by Fred Carl Jr. While attempting to design a commercial style appliance for his own personal use, he discovered several design flaws with respect to their installation. These major flaws made the range impractical and undesirable for use in residential homes. Taking the time to research and carefully develop the design, Carl worked through the problems, introducing the first commercial-style range for residential use in 1987.

The demand for Viking Range appliances took off like wild fire. With such a massive unanticipated and growth it overwhelmed the small company rather quickly. By October 1989, the company had moved the Carl’s hometown Greenwood, Mississippi where Viking Range could keep up with the large volume of appliances, and continue to move forward with new and innovative products. In 1990, Viking Range produced their first cooktop.

Continuing to grow, expand, and meet the need culinary needs of their customers, Viking began to manufacture other kitchen equipment, such as dishwashers, cookware, cutlery countertops, and more.
