The WhirlpoolWGD5050LW gas dryer is designed for busy households that want powerful drying performance, fabric care, and time‑saving convenience in one dependable appliance. With a generous 7.0 cu. ft. IEC (Canada) capacity, it easily handles family‑sized loads and bulky items like comforters, while its 29" width fits comfortably into most standard laundry spaces without demanding a complete room redesign. At the heart of this model is advanced Moisture Sensing technology, which uses dual sensors to monitor both temperature and humidity inside the drum, automatically stopping the cycle when clothes are evenly dry. This helps protect fabrics from overdrying, reduces energy waste, and cuts down on the need to re‑run cycles that other dryers might leave damp. For anyone who hates ironing or constantly rewashing wrinkled items, the integrated Wrinkle Shield™ Option is a standout feature: after the main cycle ends, the dryer periodically tumbles your laundry for up to 2.5 hours, helping prevent creases from setting in if you can’t unload right away. When you need to refresh clothes instead of doing a full wash, the dedicated Steam Refresh cycle uses a precise combination of water and heat to relax wrinkles and revive fabrics, making it ideal for work shirts, dresses, or items that have been sitting in the closet. To give you even more control, the Timed Dry function lets you choose preset intervals—15, 30, 60, or 90 minutes—perfect for slightly damp loads, items on a drying rack, or when you simply prefer to set your own schedule. Thoughtful touches like an interior drum light, an end‑of‑cycle signal, and an Air Only cycle for heat‑free fluffing round out the experience, while the straightforward rear‑console knob and button controls keep operation simple and intuitive. Backed by over a century of laundry expertise from Whirlpool, the WGD5050LW offers a smart balance of capacity, care, and convenience, with premium features like sensor drying, wrinkle protection, and steam refresh that are often reserved for higher‑priced models.
