The JennAirJGD3536GS 36" gas downdraft cooktop brings professional‑style performance and a sleek, built‑in look to modern kitchens, combining powerful heat, precise control and integrated ventilation in one refined appliance. Designed for cooks who want an open, unobstructed space above the range, this 36‑inch wide surface incorporates the signature JX3™ Downdraft Ventilation System directly into the cooktop, drawing smoke, steam and odors down at the source so you can enjoy a clear view and clean air without the need for an overhead hood. With three ventilation speeds and proximity capture, the system efficiently whisks away cooking byproducts whether you are searing, simmering or sautéing, making it an ideal solution for islands, peninsulas and open‑concept layouts. Five sealed burners are thoughtfully arranged to maximize usable space, anchored by a robust 17,000 BTU Ultra‑High Output burner that delivers the intense heat required for rapid boiling, wok cooking and deep searing, while still offering the finesse to step down for everyday tasks. At the opposite end of the spectrum, a 5,000 BTU Ultra‑Low Output burner with dedicated Melt Cap is engineered for delicate work such as melting chocolate, holding sauces or gently reheating without scorching, giving you a wide thermal range on a single surface. Distinctive brass burners with a removable base not only elevate the aesthetic with a premium, European‑inspired look, they also focus the flame for more even heat distribution and can be lifted out to simplify cleaning around and beneath the burner heads. The stainless surface is further protected by DuraFinish™ Protection, a specialized treatment that helps resist yellowing, staining and scratching so the cooktop maintains its luster through years of daily use. Continuous cast‑iron grates create a stable platform that lets you slide heavy pots from one burner to another without lifting, while intuitive knob controls with Flame‑Sensing™ Re‑ignition help automatically reignite the flame if it is accidentally blown out. ADA compliance and the ability to convert to duct‑free operation with an optional kit add flexibility for a variety of installations. Altogether, the JennAirJGD3536GS offers a rare combination of integrated downdraft ventilation, high‑output and ultra‑low burners, durable premium materials and refined styling that sets it apart from standard gas cooktops.
• JX3™ Downdraft Ventilation System with 3 Speeds – integrated proximity ventilation captures smoke, steam and odors right at the cooking surface and pulls them down and out, eliminating the need for an overhead hood.
• DuraFinish® Protection – specialized surface treatment helps the stainless steel cooktop resist yellowing, staining, scratching and other visible signs of aging to keep it looking new longer.
• Flame-Sensing™ Re-ignition – automatically reignites the burner flame if it goes out, helping maintain consistent heat and enhancing cooking safety.
• Convertible to Duct-Free Ventilation – optional kit allows the downdraft system to be configured for duct-free operation where exterior venting is not possible.
• JennAir® Euro-Style design – premium styling with sleek stainless steel finish and brass burner accents to complement high-end kitchen aesthetics.
• 36" downdraft gas cooktop – built-in 36‑inch cooktop with integrated ventilation, ideal for islands or installations where a traditional hood is impractical.
• Five sealed gas burners – multiple burner sizes and outputs support everything from rapid boiling to gentle simmering on a sealed surface that helps contain spills.
• 17,000 BTU ultra-high output burner – delivers intense heat for searing, stir-frying and fast boiling when high-powered cooking performance is needed.
• 5,000 BTU ultra-low output burner with Melt Cap – provides very gentle, even heat for melting chocolate, holding sauces and cooking delicate foods without scorching.
• Additional high- and mid-output burners – a mix of 15,000 BTU, 12,500 BTU and 10,000 BTU sealed burners offers versatile heat levels for everyday cooking tasks.
• Brass burners with removable base – durable brass construction promotes precise, even flame distribution and the removable base design simplifies deep cleaning.
• Continuous cast-iron grates – heavy-duty, matte-finish grates span the cooktop so you can slide pots and pans between burners without lifting.
• Dishwasher-safe grates – cast-iron grates are designed to be cleaned in the dishwasher for easier maintenance.
• Stainless steel cooktop surface – robust, easy-to-wipe surface resists everyday wear and coordinates with other stainless appliances.
• Right-front knob controls – front corner control placement keeps knobs accessible while maximizing usable cooking space.
• Metal control knobs – solid-feel stainless knobs provide precise flame adjustment and a premium tactile experience.
• Infinite heat controls – allow fine-tuned flame settings between low and high for better control over cooking results.
• Downdraft CFM motor class blower – vertically mounted blower (approx. 297–310 CFM class) efficiently pulls air through the downdraft vent to help clear the cooking area.
• Three downdraft fan speeds – multiple ventilation settings let you match airflow to the amount of smoke or steam being produced.
• Power outage compatible – can be lit with a match during a power outage (refer to use and care guidelines), allowing continued gas cooking when electricity is unavailable.
• Electronic spark ignition – provides reliable burner lighting and works with the flame-sensing re-ignition system for added safety.
• Hot surface indicator – visual indicator reminds you when the cooktop area is still hot to the touch, even after burners are turned off.
• LP convertible with included kit – ships ready for natural gas but includes conversion components for installation with liquid propane.
• Downdraft installation flexibility – built-in downdraft design frees up overhead space for open sightlines, shelving or design elements instead of a hood.
• Does not install over built-in oven – designed for dedicated cutout installations, helping ensure proper ventilation routing and clearances.
• Approximate cutout size 34.75" W x 19.94" D – standard 36" cooktop cutout dimensions simplify replacement of many existing cooktops.
• 120V power with included power cord – plugs into a standard household electrical connection for ignition and downdraft blower operation.
• UL listed and ADA compliant (select installations) – meets applicable safety and accessibility standards when installed according to manufacturer guidelines.
