The KitchenAidYKMCS122SSS countertop microwave is designed for home cooks who want powerful performance, intuitive technology and a sleek built‑in look without sacrificing valuable cabinet space. With a generous 1.6 cu. ft. capacity and a streamlined width of approximately 21 3/4", it comfortably handles everything from family‑size casseroles to weeknight leftovers while still fitting neatly into most standard countertop or trim‑kit openings. At the heart of this model is its impressive 1200‑watt cooking power, which delivers fast, even heating so foods come out hot all the way through, not just around the edges. What really sets this microwave apart are its advanced Sensor Functions, which automatically adjust time and power based on the steam released from your food, taking the guesswork out of reheating pasta, soups, vegetables and more. You simply choose the sensor option and let the microwave do the thinking for you. Complementing this is a suite of convenient Auto Functions and express start options for popular tasks like popcorn, potatoes, reheating plates, and softening or melting ingredients for baking, so you get consistent results at the touch of a button. For easier maintenance, the dedicated Steam Clean function uses the power of steam to loosen cooked‑on splatters inside the cavity, allowing you to wipe it clean with a damp cloth instead of harsh chemicals or heavy scrubbing. The interior turntable is removable and dishwasher‑safe, making cleanup even simpler. On the outside, a stainless steel finish pairs with touch‑activated controls and a clear LED display for a modern, built‑in style that coordinates beautifully with other KitchenAid appliances, and this model can be paired with an optional trim kit (sold separately) if you prefer a fully integrated installation above a wall oven or in a custom cabinet opening. Thoughtful details like timed defrost, add‑30‑seconds style express cooking, and clearly labeled presets make the YKMCS122SSS a smart upgrade for busy kitchens that demand both style and performance.
