This Whirlpool GCI3061XB cooktop enhances your cooking experience with energy-saving induction cooking. Induction cooking is fueled by electromagnetic technology instead of traditional gas burners or electric elements. The innovative heating system uses copper coils under the ceramic-glass cooking surface, that possess an alternative electrical current produced by oscillating magnetic fields. When a steel or copper pan is placed on a cooking zone, a magnetic flux is induced, allowing the magnetic field to be completed, heating the cookware directly.

The automatic pan detection system prevents the cooktop from being activated for unintended use. In other words, in your children places a piece of plastic on the cooking surface and turns on the cooking zone, the plastic will not melt.
